NEWS – Our own ‘Unsung Hero’ gets deserved recognition
Isabel in the Unsung Hero Awards
Here at Shine, we are very proud of the support we provide not only our to service users but also to our staff, offering a holistic approach to enable both service users and staff to thrive and reach their full potential. But ‘simply’ achieving excellence is only half the story.

This was recently recognised when Isabel Ngwenya, one of our Senior Care Practitioners and Induction Coordinator, was notified (on the 23rd July) that she has been awarded runner up in the Unsung Hero Awards this month by Carer Magazine (page 3 – 18th edition).
Isabel has made significant lifestyle changes and overcome a number of challenges in her life to enable her to continue to provide client-focused care. This has placed her in a unique position to inspire and encourage others to achieve whatever they choose to do.
“I was determined to be successful as a care professional,” says Isabel. “That meant making a few changes at home to allow me to fulfill both my professional and family commitments, and I have had to continually update those new arrangements over the years. Like many carers, the adjustments I needed to make around COVID-19 to ensure the safety of both my family and my service users and colleagues were particularly challenging. It’s nice to be recognised, but I think many carers have had to adjust things recently.”

Manoj Mahtani, CEO of Shine Partnerships Limited, said; “Isabel’s empathy and commitment are recognised in this award which she has received from her peers within the industry. It is an amazing achievement, because, despite a number of challenges, she has forged ahead with her career, spanning the last 15 years. She has continued to flourish here at Shine since joining us in 2012, and is an inspiration to anyone facing difficulties and obstacles in their lives. This was evident in her award nomination.
“Well done Isabel and congratulations from everyone here at Shine. We are all so proud to be working with you and thank you for your continued commitment.”
